“Meden Agan” was the message my brother, Danny, graffitied all over our hometown of Oshawa, Ontario during his high school days. Somehow, he never got caught doing it, although I do recall Danny gaining a bit of secret notoriety when photos of his handiwork appeared in the local paper. For some unknown reason, Danny refused to tell me what Meden Agan meant. I had to wait until Google came along to inform me. I guess he liked to keep me guessing.
It turns out “Meden Agan” is a Greek phrase meaning “nothing in excess.”
How great is that? It seems like a good way to go about life, if you ask me. It reminds me of Mother Teresa’s message, “Live simply so others may simply live.”
